THURSDAY JUNE 7 TO SATURDAY JUNE 16

Les FrancoFolies de Montréal @ Quartier des spectacles, St-Catherine & Jeanne-Mance. The 24th edition of Montreal’s Les FrancoFolies, a festival that showcases the best of Quebec’s musical talent, will feature a series of fantastic indoor and outdoor shows all week long. Some notable names include Ariane Moffat, Coeur de pirate, Eiffel, Radio Radio (most of whom will perform at Metropolis) and many more. Check out the colour-coordinated site map and full festival program. Find ticket information here.

THURSDAY JUNE 14

8pm. The Last Ever Teen Beat Takeover @ Il Motore, 179 Jean-Talon West. Suoni per il popolo is currently in full-swing – have you hit up any shows yet? Here’s your chance for some rock n’ roll: Reigning Sound, with Bloodshot Bill and The Pouteens (see what they did there?) will deliver “an infectious hodge podge n’ barrage of wild R&B, raw hipshake instrumentals, primitive surf grinders, loud garage-punkers, greasy soul stompers” and much more. $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Tickets available here!

FRIDAY JUNE 15

9pm. Mos Def @ L’Oympia, 1004 St-Catherine East. Well, he recently declared that his name is now Yasiin Bey instead of Mos Def, but whatever. You know who he is. This will be a wicked night at L’Olympia (my personal favourite Montreal venue) and tickets can be purchased here if you’d like to join! $40.

SATURDAY JUNE 16

1pm. Freak & Fabulous: The Strong Lady Festival @ Le Belmont, 4483 St-Laurent. In celebration of Montreal’s strong and alternatively-inclined women, the Strong Lady Festival will feature several ‘freak’ show acts and a bazaar showcasing the craftiness and mad skillz of local Montreal female artists. Door prizes, carnival treats and DJ’ed dance parties await all guests! Tickets for the Cabaret Freak Show (which will feature a stellar line-up of talented and quirky women) are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Entry to the bazaar is free! For more information, check out the Facebook event page here.

7:30pm. Radiohead w/ Caribou @ Bell Centre, 1909 Canadiens-de-Montréal. The hands-down coolest tour of the summer comes to Montreal – Radiohead, with Caribou as their opening act. No explanation needed. If you were lucky enough to score advance tickets back in the winter, enjoy! If not, try here or Craigslist/Kijiji.

9:30pm. Lily Frost w/ Motel Raphael @ Le Divan Orange, 4234 St-Laurent. As part of the Indie Montreal FRINGE Discovery Music Series, BC-born and independent singer/song-writer Lily Frost takes the stage with girl-band Motel Raphaël and Montreal’s Ainsley McNeaney. Similarly, check out the Series’ June 17th programming, featuring Rah Rah and The Belle Game, also at Le Divan Orange. All tickets can be purchased here. $10-$12.
