8pm. Mamma Mia! @ Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, Place-des-Arts. You loved the Meryl Streep film version, now see the real deal! The North American touring production of Mamma Mia, the hit musical based on ABBA songs, comes to Montreal. Performances: Thursday & Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm and 8 pm, Sunday at 2pm and 7:30pm. 9pm. Analog 01 @ Araucaria Bistro, 5607 du Parc. A night of electronic and experimental music. Join Cop Car Bonfire, Bam Bam, Window (DJ set) and special guests for music, good food and drinks. Till 3am.

10pm Tuff Love @ Royal Phoenix Bar, 5788 St-Laurent. It’s days after New Years and time to get back to ole habits. Come celebrate the first weekend of 2012 with Royal Phoenix Friday resident DJ Fiend, special guest Tronald Trump and host Ian Audio. Disco, funk, soul and house till 3am. $5 after 11pm.

8pm. La Route Chante: A Tribute to Lhasa De Sela @ Le Theatre Rialto, 5723 du Parc. Two concerts paying tribute to Montreal singer Lhasa De Sela, who succumbed to breast cancer on January 1st, 2010 at the age of 37. Confirmed musicians include: Arthur H, Patrick Watson & The Wooden Arms, Ariane Moffatt, The Barr Brothers, Jérôme Minière, Plants and Animals, Esmerine, Katie Moore, Thomas Hellman, Ariel Engle, and more. Tickets for newly added Saturday show (Friday show sold out) are $25, and available here.

SATURDAY JAN 7

6pm. Parker Branch Off-Site No. 1 @ W WTWO, 170 Jean Talon Ouest, Unit 206. Parker Branch is a collaborative curatorial project by London, Ontario based-artists Anna Madelska and Jason Hallows that emphasizes found objects, ephemera, collections and natural artefacts. The exhibition for W WTWO is Parker Branch’s first off-site project.

9:30pm. The Coppertone @ Divan Orange, 4234 St-Laurent. Toronto blues/rock singer-songwriter Amanda Zelina, aka The Coppertone, plays Divan Orange, in support of her latest record, “Hymns for the Hollow.” $10.
