As part of the Gladstone Hotel’s Alterna-Pride celebrations, an exhibit of art that’s gay is opening today. The exhibit cheekily re-appropriates the word Gay, but also explores how queers have had to constantly battle with language-a thorny path where what’s derogatory becomes celebratory, what’s celebratory becomes hateful, and the definition of words is as fluid as sexuality itself. The work, assembled from a group of artists, deals with the queer experience. The exhibition is free, and runs from 12-5 pm everyday. On Friday, June 25th, they’ll be holding an opening jam at 7 pm. Curator’s tour will run July 3rd at noon, and a forum discussion will be held July 8th at 7 pm.
