WOW-WOW-WOW! Scrubs in the City Presents BLOCK PARTY was our favourite gala of the season by far! In its 12th year, the annual fundraising event for SickKids brought out more than 800 influential movers and shakers for an unforgettable night at The Evergreen Brick Works!

We danced in bubbles, chased a Chinese paper dragon through the crowd, waved our hands in the air, bid on an Alexander McQueen purse, watched local graffiti artist Spud create an awesome mural, and enjoyed all the delicious “street food” on offer, from fried chicken and waffles to a rainbow of gelato.

The graffitied walls of the remarkable Brick Works space provided a perfect backdrop for the BLOCK PARTY theme; partygoers in bright hues looked gorgeous when posing for pics against the dramatic, and genuine, street art.

Since inception, Scrubs in the City has raised over $2 million for SickKids. This year alone, they raised over $400,000! All proceeds will go towards the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning, set to open in September 2013. Bringing together over 2,000 scientists and researchers, the new centre promises to be a game changer in children’s health, not to mention a 750,000 square foot architectural feat.

Congratulations to the Scrubs in the City committee! Not only are they making a significant contribution for the future of SickKids, but they know how to throw one helluva party—and do so in the best pumps we’ve ever seen.

Neighbourly love abounds! We can’t wait for next year.
