These are my Favorite Things…

Savannah Cookson

1.Knitting Needles & Yarn

I took a knitting class with my mom in eleventh grade, and learned how to make everything from a scarf to the beginnings of a sweater. Now, I know how to do tons of different stitches, make scarves for myself and others, and read knitting patterns. I can’t sew, but I can KNIT.

2. Jewellery Box

My best friend Rachael sent me this box from Beijing last Christmas. She put little things in it like a belt, and a Chinese good health book mark. It’s hand-painted, and now I keep my jewellery in it.

3. Hunter Boots

When I was living in London, it rained, and was slushy all the time. Everyone was super jealous because I could wade through the deepest puddles unaffected.

4. Clutch

Fabulous oversized clutch from my favourite vintage store, I Miss You, on Ossington near Queen. I own at least 4 bags and tons of jewellery from there now.

5. M.I.T. pin

This is the falconsnake logo from when I was first an M.I.T. soph, and no one at Western knew what it was, except for our faculty. Now people ask me about it everywhere I go. It was pinned to my backpack at Lollapalooza last summer and three guys behind me were like ‘Yeeeeeah Falconsnake! We love M.I.T!” Commemorates my 4 years in an amazing program.

6. America’s Funniest Home Video’s: Home for the Holidays

I love AFV, is there any explanation necessary? Please note it is the ‘home for the holidays’ edition, featuring holiday mishaps. There’s a sequence of falling-over mascots that makes me cry laughing every time.

7. Tweetie-Bird Toaster

My nana gave it to me when I was 15, and when I moved out to go to school, my roommates and I used it for 3 years straight. It makes the perfect toast, and I’m bringing it with me to my next apartment.

8. Gangsta Rap Colouring Book

My best friends got it for me for my birthday in twelfth grade. It’s just a sweet colouring book that makes for sweet colouring adventures.

9. Purple nail polish.

Purple’s a good colour. Purple rain.

10. Tia

Tia’s my dog. She’s almost 10 years old, she is sassy and cute. Most Jack Russels are short and ugly and stumpy, but Tia is a cute Jack Russel.
