It’s official, guys: autumn is upon us. And whether you’re super into the season or not, you can’t deny the gorgeous change of leaves, the crisp air, the adorable fashion. Most people associate summer with travel, but have you ever considered a short getaway in fall? It’s still warm enough that you don’t need mittens or a hat, but you finally get to rock those favourite fall boots and that gorgeous long coat. Grab a warm beverage and walk arm-in-arm with a loved one…magical.

Want the perfect fall getaway? Look no further than Stratford! Just a short drive from downtown Toronto, the Savour Stratford festival—happening THIS WEEKEND—is the perfect way to ease into the colder months. Seriously.

Taking place from Friday, Sept. 20 to Sunday, Sept. 22, Savour Stratford celebrates food from Perth County and beyond. Considered one of Ontario’s best events, Savour Stratford is a must for any food lover. There’s a ton happening over the course of the festival’s three days, but here are some highlights we’re super jazzed about:

Festival Opening: Put on by the chefs and students of Fanshawe College, the opening night of Savour Stratford means live music, craft beer, wine, street food stalls, and more. Perfect for the whole family!

Friday, Sept. 206pm to 9pm. No entrance fee.

Celebrated Chefs: Throughout the weekend, head to the Toronto Star Culinary Stage for presentations by some of the food industry’s most exciting chefs, including Vikram Vij, Wing Li, Roger Mooking, and Tim Larsen.

All weekend. $5 per event, $20 all-access pass.

Women in Food Breakfast: The Church Restaurant hosts this brunch and panel discussion that explores women in the food industry. Moderated by The Cookbook Store’s Alison Fryer, the panel features Chatelaine‘s food editor Claire Tansey, Revel Caffe owner Anne Campion, chef Joshna Maharaj, author/photographer Naomi Duguid, and chef Mara Salles.

Sunday, Sept. 22. Morning. $25 adults, $20 culinary students, $15 children.

Savour Stratford Tasting: Enjoy a garden party in Stratford’s Market Square as 30 top local chefs pair with Perth County producers to prepare various seasonal dishes that you get to try! There will also be Tasting Awards given out by judges. Sample delicious and inventive plates and sip on craft beer and Ontario VQA wines while live entertainment plays in the background!

Sunday, Sept. 22. Afternoon. $125 VIP, $85 general admission.

Such a great, easy, and delicious way to spend a weekend! Oh, plus Stratford is a gorgeous, magical little place. Head up for the day or make a weekend of it! The perfect fall getaway is yours for the taking!
