The prom experience is an important rite of passage for many young women, but the costs associated are often prohibitively expensive. Shelling out for shoes, dress and jewellery can run in upwards of $800; no small amount when you’re still in high school and often juggling part-time work with homework.

But now thanks to a fantastic initiative (in partnership with Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada), The Corsage Project is giving the real prom experience to young women who would not otherwise have the opportunity due to the high cost.

On Sunday, April 22, the Corsage Project will host its 18th annual Boutique Ball for hundreds of young women graduating from high schools across Toronto. The Boutique Ball is free of charge and available through confidential referrals. The students will be treated to personal shoppers, mini-makeovers with celebrity stylists, goodie bags from generous sponsors, and a selection of gorgeous new dresses, shoes and jewellery to choose from.
