Last week, we had the pleasure of filling a theatre full of opera lovers to enjoy The Met’s 10th Anniversary Performance of Mozart’s The Magic Flute, directed by Julie Taymor. It was electrifying, mesmerizing, and absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

Never have we experienced opera so close-up; we could see the details of the costumes, the intricate movements of stage props, and every facial expression. Watching the rapid throat and mouth movements of Erika Miklósa as she hit the high notes in “Queen of the Night Aria” was exquisite. This really is a Front Row Centre Event.

Several Shedoesthecity readers attended with their moms, while others brought a significant other for a different kind of date, but the majority grabbed their culture-vulture gal-pal who was equally as keen to try something new.

DAVIDsTEA set up a station in the theatre where guests were able to sample their delicious Holiday Collection, and upon exiting the theatre, everyone was gifted FERRERO’s *NEW* Golden Gallery of chocolates. Opera + Tea + Chocolate = our idea of heaven. It was a memorable evening and we can’t wait to check out all the wonderful Met Opera LIVE programming in 2016!

Missed out? Not to worry! The Met’s 10th Anniversary Performance of Mozart’s The Magic Flute will be playing in Cineplex Theatres across Canada on December 13th. Sparkly, beautiful and enchanting: it’s a delightfully festive way to spend an evening this holiday season. Get your tickets now.
