First of all, how cool is this theme? Hit Cabaret Vintage and dress like a saucy Paz de la Huerta AKA Nucky’s hot girlfriend. Fun! But what is The Arnold Party? This annual extravaganza, happening on Thursday October 6, honours Canadians who have made exceptional contributions to the arts

by connecting the business community with artists, art happenings and cultural institutions.

Business for the Arts is an organization dedicated to connecting businesses and philanthropists to the arts. With arts funding being slashed by short sighted politicians, this org and event is more important than ever. But it’s not just biz rather a boisterous bash that provides an excellent opportunity to network with like-minded individuals who believe that supporting the arts is vital for a city’s economy to thrive. That’s worth celebrating, no? YES!

As always, The Arnold Party singles out one particular individual who has proven success through innovative and industrious work that directly supports culture in Canada. This year, Simon Foster is being recognized for co-founding Timeraiser, an ingenious concept wherein he has helped raise 84,000 hours of volunteer time for 383 charities. At various Timeraiser events, guests bid on time versus things with skills and individual passion matched accordingly to charities in need. Brilliant!

It just so happens that the 2011 Arnold Party is one big family affair: Simon’s sisters, Jessica and Joanna Foster, will be hosting the party. Likewise involved in the arts, Jessica sits on the committee for both AGO Next and the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Circle and Joanna is co-chair of artScene.

If you are looking to gussy up and have a great time, come. If you are looking to connect with young professionals who are committed to the arts, come. If you believe in the arts and want to do your part to help keep Toronto vibrant and brimming with culture, come.

Tickets are still available! $125 for a single or $225 for a pair.
