Nuit Blanche Piece: Dead Philosophers’ Limbo

What inspired your contribution to Nuit Blanche this year?
24 contemporary dance artists + a bunch of boom boxes + Simon Critchley’s book : The Book of Dead Philosophers

What do you hope people will experience when they see it?
When I watch it, I think about the extraordinary collision of the mind and the body. And sometimes I imagine I’m Simone de Beauvoir.

Nuit Blanche aside, what’s the most amazing, surreal 3 am experience you’ve ever had?
It’s a toss-up between Northern Lights and eating with Burton Cummings at Sal’s in Winnipeg.

Where will you be at dawn on Sunday?
Watching some of Toronto’s finest contemporary dancers creating movement metaphor while changing batteries in old school boom boxes.

You’ve got $100,000 to spend on throwing your ideal art event-what do you do?
Haven’t conceptualized it entirely, but I’m pretty sure it involves having lots of amazing things fall from the sky.
