Seven years in the making, This Body Project is a multimedia art event that seeks to discover and transform the relationship between self and body. The project centers around ten individuals who explore the question, “What is your relationship with your body?” and documented their answers through photography, audio recordings and the written word.

On December 8th, join us for an evening of courageous storytelling, beautiful photography by Scarlet O’Neill, drinks and music. Creator Sarah Jurgens will be on-hand to introduce This Body Project to the world.

“I’m interested in art that holds space for truth through testimony and witness. As a young woman, navigating my way through my 20s left me asking questions that I was desperate to discuss in a communal context. Examining the relationship between body and self is a life-long journey that deserves its own sacred space.”

Tickets are $15 each (and include admission and a drink) and can be purchased online or at the door. The event takes place at Artscape Youngplace (180 Shaw Street) from 6-10pm.

In the meantime, join the conversation on Twitter and Instagram @thisbodyproject!

*Important note: This is a multimedia art event. Please bring your smartphone to access the audio stories from the online blog. WIFI will be provided by Artscape Youngplace. If you do not have access to a smartphone, there will be smartphones and mp3 players with the audio files uploaded on hand.

The blog for This Body Project will be active as of December 8th.
