Sarah Sahagian is a professional feminist. She is currently a PhD candidate in Gender, Feminist and Women’s Studies at York University, where she is completing her dissertation on the mothering of inter-ethnic children. Her writing has been featured in such publications as the popular anthology on gender fluid parenting
Chasing Rainbows, The Huffington Post, XOJane, the satirical newspaper The Beaverton, and of course right here at Shedoesthecity. Sarah’s first novel, Good Girls, will be released by Inanna Publications in 2017. Good Girls is a work of YA fiction about teens at an all-girls school who do debating as an extra-curricular activity. For those of you who knew Sarah in high school, she wants you to know the novel is not, in fact, autobiographical. Okay, fine, maybe just a little bit.
When she’s not writing dissertations, articles, or to-do lists, Sarah reads a lot of novels about other angsty women, streams a lot of Netflix, enjoys the occasional glass of Shiraz. Her favourite activity is tweeting about topics ranging from reproductive rights to who’s going to win The Bachelor. You can follow her on Twitter here: @sarahsahagian.
