1. What does a typical Thursday look like for you, starting from when you wake up – to heading to bed?

Thursday! Definitely one of my favourite days of the week!
I usually get up at around 8:30am….and out of bed at 9am! Hey…I go to bed late! Make some coffee, eat a little breaky while I check and respond to some emails. Then I’m off to the gym for an hour or so.

I’m working on a new album right now so that is what is occupying basically all of my time. Just writing the horn parts now! Working on counter melodies and changing all the things I did yesterday that I thought were soooo great! Well, not all the things. I like to take some time in the afternoon to do errands, laundry, repond to more emails then back to work. I really enjoy writing in the evening. Often I’ll look at the clock and it will be well into the wee hours. Sometimes I’ll head out on a Thursday night to meet up with some friends or, stay in w/ my hubby, make a great dinner and enjoy some delicious wine! Bedtime varies. I’d say the most common time is somewhere between 12am and 3am. (which of course changes how early I rise!)

2. What was your first job out of school?

I worked for an Educational Entertainment Company doing promotion and sales. I’m not really a 9-5 kinda gal so that job didn’t last long!

3. What are the 3 skills you require most to do your job well?

Creativity, Personality and Determination.

4. What do you love most about your career?

I love feeling the connection with my audience. There is nothing more personal to me then to know that somebody has been affected in some way by my music.

5. If a woman wanted to get into this business, what are your recommendations of how they should start?

Be prepared. Have lot’s of songs ready to go. Play live as often as possible and get to know your fellow compatriots.

6. Do you have any warnings?

Do it because you love it and not for visions of grandeur, because believe it or not, superficiality will come out in your music.

7. If you could try a different career on for a year, what would it be?

Make-up artist. I love to play with make-up!
