If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at writing a picture book, now’s your chance! The Exquisite Picture Book Project is a collective book-writing initiative launched by Toronto-based mom and artist, Tyler Clarke Burke.

“Each week a different person (or group) writes the next page in the story. Each Monday, I illustrate the winning line and mail the original art to the writer (or writers),” notes Burke.

The first page was written by a classroom of Grade 7 kids in Ontario, and the second page was written by Shelley Mutch in Toronto (a mother of two). The first line was chosen by a poll, and Sparkles the star won by a landslide.

Tyler publishes a new page each Monday and accepts submissions here for the following page from Monday until Friday at 6 pm (EST). If you’re a parent or teacher, submissions from kids are absolutely welcome! Creative storytelling for all! We adore this project.
