1. Choose your own (sex) adventure books, by Max Girth AKA Jon Pressick. Why, oh why was this not thought of sooner? If you were a
fan of choose your own adventure books as a kid (Goosebumps, anyone?), you would really get a kick out of the DIY tales of this genderless
protagonist as s/he embarks on the varied and wondrous sexscapades of your design. The author (who had me at his clever pseudonym), also cohosts a radio show called Sex City on CIUT, and is the editor of www.sexlifecanada.ca.

2. Shameless, Toronto based feminist / political zine apparently has a vag-centric sister publication, 1234V, a self proclaimed “vajournal”
containing mostly confessional anecdotes about vaginas. Bawdy stuff that will make you cackle and cringe, including the grievances of
Brazilians, a guide to getting yourself off, and the tortures of masturbating yourself to sleep. Oh, and lots of graphic diagrams.

3. City of Craft had a big presence at Canzine as one of Toronto’s main community arts alliances. City of Craft is a huge craft fair
taking place December 18 / 19th as well as an organization that presents smaller (and equally awesome) crafty programming in Toronto
throughout the year. It’s a celebration of all things handmade, putting on exhibitions from mending shows and silhouette photo booths
to plaster nose casting. Keep up with their crafty ideas at cityofcraft.com.

4. “The Rabble of Downtown Toronto” is Jason Kieffer’s pictorial account of Toronto’s finest street-walking specimens, complete with
distinguishing physical characteristics (no teeth, shakes fist while cursing god, dilated pupils), an imaginative nickname and local
whereabouts. As you can imagine, the author stirred up a lot of hullabaloo over his seemingly antagonistic writings, but I really
think he’s just trying to create an open dialogue that encourages visibility of the oft looked over population – via humour and amazing
cartoons. He declares, “if I see someone screaming on a street corner, I stop and listen to what they have to say and most of the time, I can
see why they’re angry; they’re yelling about things that I’d like to yell about too.”

5. Toronto New School of Writing advertised their new artist run writers workshops. Every artist who facilitates a class is asked to
propose their ideal course to take – that’s how this brand new workshop series is different than others in any college or
universities. 1 day to 10 week writing courses include titles like “The Beat Generation in Depth”, “New York Poets in Depth”, “The San
Francisco Renaissance”, and it all takes place in an upstart bookstore/studio space at College and Spadina. If that gets your inner starving artist salivating, check out http://tnsow.com/ for more info.

6. “Microcosm Publishing” revealed itself to Toronto as probably the coolest publishing company that ever existed. As a non profit,
collectively run publisher and distributer of zines and related work (posters, shirts, audio, patches, etc.) this crew strives to add
credibility to zine writers and their ethics. AMEN! Their titles include guides to bicycle maintenance, soap making, picking locks, and
using plants for their medicinal properties. For more hilarious and helpful titles, go to http://microcosmpublishing.com/.
