Almost everyone I know can quickly identify a Bad Spirit, one liquor or drink they cannot and will not go near. It was halloween, 2007, when I was turned off of drinking gin and tonics for 7 years. I was living in residence in Montreal, back in the days when “pre-drinking” was an actual thing and I still went to clubs. That evening on the floor of AJ’s room, red plastic cup in hand, I drank one gin and tonic after another. I’ll spare you the gory details and simply tell you this: anyone who has lived to the tale of his or her Bad Spirit Experience knows what went down…or up, in my case.

While I’m convinced, I’ll never drink Schweppes tonic again, I’ve come to really love gin. So when Fentimens sent me a bottle of their tonic to try I decided I’d give the G+T another shot, elevating it a little with fresh cucumber juice. And you know what…I liked it. A lot. The girl who used to dance till all hours of the night to Justice is long gone but gin and tonics just might be here to stay.

g+t3Method

11/2 ounces of Dillon’s gin
2 ounces of Cucumber Juice
top with premium tonic

You’ll need a juicer for this one. Don’t forget to peel the cucumber first. If you don’t have a juicer, blend a cucumber and strain the juice out through a cheese cloth. Then grab a glass and fill in with ice. Add the gin and cucumber juice and then top with soda. Garnish with a cucumber slice.
