Introducing sunshine-girl Rachel Sanderson. A barrel of laughs as well as seriously stylish, listen to her on-point advice to add a little punch to your outfits with the quintessential belt.

Name: Rachel Victoria Sanderson

Where do you live: London, Ontario, Canada… However, I am a Lawrence Park area Toronto native.

What do you do: I am currently studying Media and The Public Interest at The University of Western Ontario. I work as a ski instructor in the winter months and as a camp counsellor in the summer.

Favourite places to shop: Urban Outfitters, Value Village, the Gap, My mom’s closet

Music you can’t stop listening to: Josh Ritter, Simon and Garfunkel, Joel Plaskett, Team Canada

Perfect Friday night: A gathering of friends over at my place for a smorgasbord/potluck dinner accompanied by some good wine and tunes. After a variety of desserts the activity of choice would be playing any type of board game. I also enjoy a night out on the town as long as it contains some serious good music and lots of dancing.

What is your secret weapon: Any belt in my belt collection.

Where did you get [it/them]: They have been collected from literally all over the world and from many people. I started raiding my mom’s 80’s belts and from there looked in thrift stores. I have also been given many as gifts, my favorite being a big brown leather one from Thailand from my sister.

Why do you love them? I love a good belt with an outfit as it makes an average outfit just seem that much more pulled-together. Your waist is a focal point, so a belt draws attention to the smallest part of your body. They also add a little personal flair that makes any outfit your own and that much cooler.

If you lost them, you would be…: Quite upset. It has taken a long time for this collection to grow and it helps me keep my skirts and pants up. It wouldn’t be the end of the world but it would be very sad.
