WEDNESDAY

4 pm 27th Annual Kensington Market Winter Solstice @ Corner of Oxford & Augusta Ave. Celebrate the return to warmth and light in the heart of Kensington Market over the Winter Solstice. Lantern sales from 4-6:30 pm (location TBC), parade departs at 7 from corner of Oxord and Augusta.

6 pm Winter Solstice Party x Reyka Vodka @ The Drake Hotel Sky Yard, 1150 Queen St. W. Spend the longest night of the year bundled up on the Sky Yard enjoying complimentary Reyka cocktails, tunes spun by DJ IamMiikey, and artist Jason Peters’ epic light sculptures.

7 pm Music Bingo @ The Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St. W. A FREE weekly event combining the love of music with the traditional bingo format. Each player receives a Music Bingo card which consists of an assortment of songs. Instead of calling out numbers, they play the music! Singing along encouraged.

DJs and Radio Wolf and Dolly Mixtures play Christmas tunes from Phil Spector (Darlene Love, The Ronettes, The Crystals), Beach Boys, Wham, Elton John, Brenda Lee, and more + rock ‘n’ roll, ’50s/60s girl groups, post-punk, new wave, indie, pop, Britpop, Madchester, disco, post-disco, synthwave, synthpop, and electro.

10 pm Beam Me Up: Sanctified @ The Piston, 937 Bloor St. W. A seasonable celebration of gospel music’s role in shaping the soul of disco. Beam Me Up residents A Digital Needle and Cyclist play a mix of gospel disco and those soulful, uplifting secular songs that show how gospel’s roots spread beyond the church and on to the disco floor! $10.
