Netflix Canada announced today that the new Shania Twain documentary, Not Just A Girl, will premiere on the streaming network on July 26. We’re strapping on our boots in anticipation for this one.

The film shares how the Canadian artist made it to the top of the charts her own way, completely independent of anyone else. Shania took huge risks to achieve stardom, and became the best-selling female artist in country music history, and one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Raised in Timmins, Ontario, both Shania’s sound and lyrics were adored, and her songs were radio favourites and instant crowd pleasers. We have fond memories of choreographing moves to “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” during our teenage years, and bars across North America started line dancing like never before.

Shania’s music defied genres; her songs resonating with both pop and country fans. She’s sold over 100 million (!!!!) albums worldwide, and singlehandedly changed country music.

Whether you are a country fan or not, Shania Twain is an icon with an impressive story. If you love an in-depth music biopic, Not Just A Girl looks promising. We’re excited to revisit some memorable chapters from our youth.
