Attention, cinephiles! Every year, the enRoute Film Festival celebrates the best of young Canadian filmmaking. The films-which screen on Air Canada Flights-are the work of emerging filmmakers in their prime. This Tuesday, at Scotiabank Theatre, you can catch six of the festival’s standout works for free. The screening, followed by an all-out gala soiree at The Drake Hotel, gives you a little bit of that TIFF glitz you’ve been missing since September-and a sneak peek at the filmmakers everyone will be buzzing about in the coming years. The films are selected by a star-studded jury, including Deepa Mehta. For a chance to know the names and the work before anyone else does, you don’t want to miss this fantastic evening of courageous and engaging short cinema. These films tackle humanist subjects like Alzheimers and experiment with the limits of medium-by combining animation and live action. And the party afterwards never disappoints-which is why we’re giving away a pass for you and a guest. Email contests@shedoesthecity.com, subject line: En Route! to win. The screening takes place the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 20th at the Scotiabank Theatre, 255 Richmond St. W, at 7 pm. The Gala is at The Drake Hotel, 1150 Queen St. W., at 9 pm, with appetizers, drinks, and a who’s-who guestlist of Canadian film.
