I had big plans when my dear friend Sofia lent me her juicer for a few weeks. I was gonna be soooo healthy, dappling in the art of fresh juice every single day. With determination and a slew of veggies and fruits on the counter, I got to work making a cucumber, green apple, kale, lemon and ginger juice.

Then I was disappointed. All that produce and all I got was a few cups of juice and tons of veggie mash to compost. It took a million years to clean up and so. much. water. I felt bad for the planet. And I know it takes some time to get used to, but one sip made me want to walk down to Smokes and get a poutine.

Everything changed when I went to Me and Mine for brunch and had a carrot caesar that just knocked my socks off. Days later I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I brought the juicer out one more time to recreate it. The results are truly fantastic. This cocktail is refreshing, healthy-tasting and (actually) delicious.

Carrot Tequila Caesar

1) If you have a juicer, blend 6 large carrots and a lemon (If you don’t have a juicer get thee to Me and Mine!)

2) Rim your glass with caesar salt (I used Barbarians Steak Salt)

3) Fill your glass with ice, pour in 2 oz of tequila and top with fresh carrot juice.

4) Was that a cocktail or a health tonic? Get slightly buzzed, pat yourself on the back and have another.
