FRIDAY NOVEMBER 23

5pm. The Fruit Hunters film premiere @ Cinema Excentris, 3536 St-Laurent & theatres across Canada. The Fruit Hunters is a film about fruit-inspired lust, obsession and adventure. Based on the book The Fruit Hunters by Montreal writer Adam Gollner, the film opens in theatres nationally this weekend. Gollner will be at Excentris on Sunday for book signings. Miracle berries, the magical little fruit that makes sour food taste sweet, will be available at the cinema. Buy tickets online.

9pm. Sloan @ Le National, 1220 Ste-Catherine. The durable Canadian rock act that is Sloan plays Le National in support of a rerelease of their classic 1994 record, “Twice Removed,” a deluxe edition featuring demos and outtakes. $23.

10pm. Araabmusic w/ Baauer + Jim E-Stack @ SAT, 1201 St-Laurent. A trio of American hip-hop producers descend on SAT to deliver an evening of delirious booty shaking: Providence’s Araabmusik, Brooklyn’s Baauer and New Orleans’ Jim E-Stack. $22.
