Toronto Hit List: March 23rd-27th: Fundraiser for Japan, Dance Armstrong, Cupcake Ride, Born to Run DMC & more! 

March 25th-27th Logan Loves Co-op @ Organic Metal Gallery, 578 College St. Designer clothing, shoes, bags and accessories at a fraction of the price for those who have Gucci dreams on a Gap budget. From high end (Chanel, Prada, Valentino) to contemporary labels (Elie Tahari, 3.1 Philip Lim, Tory Birch) and those that fall in-between (Marc Jacobs, D&G, Sonia Rykiel). A portion of sales will go to The Red Cross! Sale runs Friday and Saturday from 12-6 pm and Sunday from 12-5 pm.  

March 26th-27th The Chosen Ones @ Shaw Gallery, 107 Shaw St. Spring is in the air, which means Chosen Ones is getting a bit more skimpy and colourful this month! This month’s guests include 69 Vintage, Silver Falls, CHOSEN, Leilanni Land, Citizen Vintage and many more. Pre-sale cocktail party Friday from 6-9 pm. Sale hours are Saturday and Sunday from 11-6 pm.  

WEDNESDAY

7 pm Limelight @ The Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St. W. An intimate evening bringing together live entertainment, music, dancing and a silent auction including one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted works of art donated by local artists, with all proceeds going to support the York/Sheridan Joint Program in Design Graduation Show. 

10 pm HumbleMania 2000 @ The Ossington, 61 Ossington Ave. Special guest Graham Wright from Tokyo Police Club sharing music from his upcoming solo album, a new Live in Bellwoods video from Vancouver’s Behind Sapphire and a dance party featuring music from the Humble Empire vinyl collection.  

THURSDAY

6 pm Drake General Store Loves Levis and Opening Ceremony Spring Launch @ Drake General Store, 82A Bathurst St. Try on a pair of Levis for a chance to win your very own Canadian Tuxedo! Complimentary refreshments from Duggan’s Brewery. Until 9 pm.  

7 pm Blue Hour @ Lomography Gallery Store, 536 Queen St. W. A talk by independent documentary photographer, freelance journalist and founding member of the Boreal Collective, Ian Willms.  

8:30 pm Armen At The Bazaar EP Release @ The Silver Dollar Room, 486 Spadina Ave. Montreal-by-way-of-Toronto musician Armen is releasing his latest EP Noor alongside The Benefit of the Freeman and The Spoofs. Show starts at 9:30 pm. $7 at the door or $10 with a CD.  

9 pm The Parkdale Comedy Experiment @ The Shop under Parts & Labour, 1566 Queen St. W. This month’s guests are Chris Locke, Kathleen Philips, Spencer Butt, Sexy Nerd Girl and The Sufferettes. Music by Dr. Ew. $3.  

FRIDAY

6 pm Paint Rocks @ OCAD U Auditorium, 100 McCaul St. A combination of rebel music and avant-garde visual expression hosted by the Drawing & Painting program. Performances by Audio Legion, The Acrylics, Fresh Ghost DJ More or Les and MC Keith Cole + original artworks from some of the school’s finest student and faculty painters priced at $200 (50% of the proceeds of each artwork sold will go back to the artists, with the other half benefiting the program). 

6 pm Fundraiser for Japan @ Unlovable, 1415-B Dundas St. W. Silent auction and raffle featuring donations from Badlands Vintage, Bikram Yoga, BQM, Brockton General, Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre, EL Rudd Co. Café, Frantic City, House of Vintage, Imperial Tattoo, Life Source Chiropractic, Monkey’s Paw, Penny Arcade, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Swan, Toronto Dance Theatre, type, and local artists. $3 bottles Mill St. Organic. Music by Jaime Sin and Scott Cudmore. Until 2 am.  

7 pm Synthesis @ Pia Bouman School for Creative Movement, 6 Noble St. A gala event in support of the Queen West Art Crawl. Art performances, an open bar featuring TAG cocktails, gourmet snacks from Belly Catering, designer desserts from Yummy Stuff and a chance to bid at our silent auction and a gift bag. 8 pm Borders Against Breast Cancer @ The Burroughes Building (third floor), 639 Queen St. W. 2nd Annual Fundraiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation presented by Roxy, Toronto Standard and Barrick Gold. 10 pm PWD @ The Beaver, 1192 Queen St. W. Named after the infamous Yorkville nightclub of the same name that showcased modern soul, funk and disco as they attempt to do every month. Special guest DJ Damn Aykroyd.  

10 pm Hotmess Circus @ Savoy, 1166 Queen St. W. The Electric Circus old school dance party! Hotmess DJs spinning the best in 80’s and 90’s dance, hip-hop and house. Outrageous 80’s and 90’s outfits encouraged.

Celebrating their second anniversary, Touch My Stereotype returns with a wide variety of new videos, sketches, music and improv featuring the likes of Anna Sudac, Dan Ramos, Jonathan Shatzky, Chelsea Larkin, Kritty Uranowski, Ryan Galloway, Sonia D’Amico, Mike Tanchuk, Madison Walsh and Chantale Renee. $10.
