MARCH 31 – APRIL 10 10AM – 8PM

Mavi Sample Sale
The Mavi sample sale is something not to be missed. I’ve been going to years, and I usually find a great pair of jeans at about $40. I like Mavi, they seem to get the jeans should be well made and reasonably priced at the same time. You can finally succumb to jeggings! Get there this weekend before all the good stuff is gone.
Mavi Warehouse, 580 Industrial Ave

APRIL 1 Doors 8PM Show at 9:30PM

British Sea Power at The Biltmore
These guys are from UK and rock post-punk. They are on tour to support their latest Rough Trade release “Valhalla Dancehall”. Probably the closest thing to Robert Pattinson you’ll get all weekend.
Tickets $16.00 in advance at Red Cat, Scratch, Zulu, Highlife and Ditch (Victoria) Records. Buy tickets online at: www.ticketweb.ca
The Biltmore Cabaret, 2755 Prince Edward Street

Another offering of The Rio’s Midnight Cult Classics, Cry-Baby is this week’s pick. Go watch 91 glorious minutes of Johnny Depp. Or you know, grab your boyfriend, Sharpie a tear drop on his face and BOOM, you have $1 off your ticket because you came in costume. Thank me later.

Sakura Days Japan Fair
Celebrate Japanese culture and support the Japanese community here in Vancouver during the Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival) which cheers Japanese tradition through tea ceremonies, origami, and sake tastings. Please, just go for the sake tastings. Not sure if they’ll appreciate it if you bring Red Bull to make a sake bomb, but maybe they’ll appreciate your candor.

APRIL 2

Walking + Falling Exhibit
Check out the opening night of Walking + Falling, an exhibit that focuses on the work of three artists, Jim Campbell, Chris Marker and Eadweard Muybridge, and experience a curator’s tour of their exploration and adventure in photography, film, and electronic media. A sight for your eyes AND your ears!
Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street

APRIL 7 12PM – 5PM

Sunday Bazaar: Community Market at Chapel Arts
This is an un-juried market for vendors from all over Vancity to sell arts, crafts, fashion, decor, music, and whatever fits your fancy. This is the first Sunday they’ve ever done it, so if you’re bored with Portobello West, this might be a more low-key option. If all else, just come to check out the high tea they’ll be serving, and it is complimentary!
Chapel Arts, 304 Dunlevy Avenue, East Vancouver
