Arguably one of the most controversial movies of 2000, Battle Royale is a movie about a grade nine class forced to kill each other in order to survive a governmental regimented melee designed to teach the children of their country some manners. The Hunger Games series have been compared to this masterpiece and they’re showing it at The Rio. The Rio Theatre, 1660 East Broadway, Vancouver

UFC 128
Get your aggression out with UFC 128 with Shogun vs. Jones Live on PPV at The Academic. This place seems less chach-y than the usual Donnelly Group pubs, but you never know, so perhaps if a sly guy comes up to you while you’re watching you can point to the screen, tell him you know that move, and to get lost. The Academic, 1619 West Broadway between Fir and Pine.

Vancouver Fill a Bin for the Kids with Surrey Food Bank
If you want to spend your weekend giving back, the Surrey Food Bank is trying to raise awareness of falling donation levels.
