Saturday & Sunday – 34th Annual Powell Street Festival, 11am-7pm; A huge Japanese-Canadian festival. Hang out in Oppenheimer Park and celebrate the theme of Koen (park) Debut, inspired by introducing youth to the newly renovated Oppenheimer Park. With the landscape of neighborhood on the mind, check out what’s on the Mainstage, Demo Area, Children’s Tent, Podplay Tent, Buddhist Temple, Firehall Theatre, VJLS Hall and Spectral Theatre. Tea Ceremonies, Walking Tours, Jodaiko drumming, Kokoro Dance, Rhythm Clash (described as fresh, beat-driven soundscapes crossed with sound wave theory and taiko drumming), Ikebana and Bonsai Demos.
