The 9th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater party is at the Commodore this Friday, Dec 17th, and it’s sure to be a gong show. Don your tackiest Christmas sweater and be prepared for a night of mustache contests and eggnog boat racing. I’d suggest Craigslist if you’ve been straggling on getting a ticket.

This Friday the Waldorf is showcasing international and local photographers at Night Vision. Check out the works of these artists in a massive slideshow, then stay for the dj set.

Ice Cream Social is celebrating 4 years of sock hops with a double room party. Hop between 60s rock and punk at Honey and pop and doo wop at Lotus this Monday, Dec 20th. Highballs are only $4, and beers are $4.50.

Also at the Waldorf this Sunday is the Comic & Zine Fair, featuring talented local and international artists and a live performance and signing by Dame Darcy.

Winter Events
What better way to celebrate the season than with a festival of winter beers? Justhereforthebeer.com is throwing a party to honour this winter treat, and you’re invited to join the festivities this Saturday. Tickets are a bit steep at $50, but they include live music, door prizes, and, of course, beer.

Fancy yourself a bit of a singer? Join Canucks anthem singer Mark Donnelly at Woodwards this Saturday for an afternoon of Christmas cheer and caroling. If doesn’t start until noon, so you have plenty of time curb your hangover and head over.

Get into the holiday spirit with a ride through Stanley Park’s Bright Lights. Every year they deck out a portion of the park with two million lights. Check out the winter wonderland for only $9.
