SUNDAY IS CAR FREE DAY! And there are a slew of awesome events happening as streets shut down to get the vibe rolling and the air smelling fresher!! Festivals are happening in Kits, Main Street, North Van, West End, and Commercial Drive – each area showcasing what their reputations bring to Vancouver.

Family/community oriented Kitsilano is changing it up from street party to block party. Houses throughout the community will be hosting their lawns and driveways as stages for dances and performances and lounges for potlucks and BBQ’s.
Alternative Main Street (16th Ave to 30th Ave) will feature skateboard demos, a Roller Derby, Vancouver Peoples’ Summit, and multimedia performances.
The classy West End (Denman Street) hosts the Spoken Word tent, SHAG seniors’ tent, Square Dancing lessons, Capoeria, and Chamber Music.
Bohemian Commercial Drive (Venables to First Ave)will have street hockey, a Drum Jam, Healing Garden, Tribal Harmonix Dance Stage, tons of babies and dogs, and merry mayhem abundant.
Easy going North Vancouver (3rd to Esplanade St on Lonsdale Ave) hosts a beach theme with the coastal vibe.
With so many ways to spend your day, Vancouver makes it easy to ditch your car this Sunday and stroll your favorite communities!

This Friday from 7pm-12am is the Launch party for the fundraising effort ‘Return to Creative’ hosted by Raw-Canvas. The event is bringing together a diverse community of artists raising money for the Broadway Youth Resource Centre’s art group, created on the belief that creativity must be fostered in order for it to flourish. The art group offers material and guidance in an open studio environment for East Broadway youth.
The launch party features a collaborative themed mural project which will run until Thursday June 24th. $15 gets you an 8″x8″ canvas to contribute to the mural and a chance to help the cause!
