Dictionary.com describes the word onomatopoeia as follows, "The formation of a word, as cuckoo or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent." I will go a step further and state that it is a word that an early-to-mid nineties dance, hip-hop or pop bands used to emphasize the loudness of their music. Although, you will also notice that the sound-as-a-word phenomena does stretch over many genres, from jazz to punk. Who am I kidding… I really just wanted to make a playlist where Jennifer Love Hewitt and The Jam were back to back. Enjoy! Whoot whoot!
