In the pilot episode of #GNO, (which stands for Girls Night OOOOOOUTTT!) ladies crowd the bathroom at Essence Night Club, using an iPhone app to determine if a cashew-shaped mystery lump is herpes.

Written by Marni Van Dyk and Carly Heffernan, the series is being produced by Air Farce’s Don Ferguson, and they’re hoping to snag funding from the Independent Production Fund. The IPF‘s Web Drama Series Program helps indie web series get off the ground.

The IPF has a number of different funding opportunities, so it’s definitely something that young creatives should check out. Van Dyk says that much of their funding, like the Canadian comedy scene in general, is male-dominated. She and Heffernan want to make their series a showcase of female comedy talent in Canada.
