Join Sistering, Akin Collective and more as they set out to debunk existing tensions in the word “community” and foster an environment that ensures the language of social justice and communal change is accessible to people of all backgrounds.

Whose Community? is a free event taking place this Saturday, March 17th, at Xpace Cultural Centre (303 Lansdowne Ave., Unit 2) as part of Myseum of Toronto Intersections, an annual festival that explores different perspectives on the city’s natural, cultural and historical diversity.

Beginning at 1 p.m., residents from the Brockton Village, Junction Triangle, Parkdale and Bloordale are invited to take part in a community map-making session facilitated by Melody Grant and Erin Howley (Sistering: A Woman’s Place), Althea Balmes (Akin Collective Lansdowne Studios) and Pamila Matharu (artist, educator, and cultural producer).

The afternoon will also include a beading workshop with multidisciplinary artist, activist and educator Rowan Red Sky that’s open to all ages and skill levels.

Food will be catered by neighbouring establishments, and participants can drop in any time between 1 and 4 p.m.
