We’ve been hearing amazing things about Parkdale’s Pretty Ugly Bar, open seven nights a week from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., and while the praise covers everything from the bar’s design to its snacks, it is the terrific offerings of non-alcoholic drinks that are most impressive.

With addiction stories being an important part of our editorial mandate, we’re always excited to hear about Toronto venues that uphold a commitment to sober guests such as ourselves. It’s not a usual practice, and there are trendy establishments that really do it well, but Pretty Ugly has been making quite a big splash in this area.

This weekend, beyond their usual tart and tangy non-alcoholic offerings, they are hosting a special Nolo pop-up in partnership with Seedlip, the world’s first non-alcoholic spirits. (We’ve tasted. It’s delicious.)

While the pop-up is part of a global movement, Pretty Ugly will be the only Canadian location to participate. Swing by this weekend for a taste; they’ve created six cocktails, ranging from $10-12, that have either no alcohol or very little. Yay for a Saturday night where us women in recovery don’t have to choose between flat ginger ale or water!
