In another planet called Paris, fashion week has just drawn to a close along with the usual fashion week musings. Karl Lagerfeld most likely made an inappropriate comment about mere mortals larger than size 0, and PETA probably got upset at those who prioritize fashion over vegetarianism.

While we don’t know the former for sure, the latter was confirmed. The controversy is a real shocker, as standing right at the center of it is Kanye West. This time, Mr. West showed up at the Louis Vuitton men’s show with his beau Amber Rose, both wearing lynx coats, to PETA’s utter dismay, of course.

On the organization’s website, vice-president Dan Matthews wrote: “Kanye can’t help making himself look like an idiot, whether at an awards show or a fashion show. He and his girlfriend look like pathetic creatures from a shabby roadside zoo.”

It’s a little harsh, but we doubt it will penetrate the thick walls of Mr. West’s ego. In other Kanye related FW happenings, perhaps the biggest “wtf?” moment happened when Kanye and Madame Rose arrived at the Chanel haute couture show, where Mdme. Rose was wearing a dress that appeared to be missing 75 per cent of the fabric.

In fashion news, this year’s haute couture shows by Dior, Chanel, YSL and the gang saw some ethereal pieces that transformed the recent economic crisis into a fleck of dust somewhere in the back of our memories. Easy favourites were Dior’s china doll looks nostalgic of fin de siècle equestrianism and lavish ballroom royalty.
