What started as a podcast by Nana aba Duncan has grown into a movement aimed at bringing more diverse women* to the foreground of the media landscape.

Now, Media Girlfriends (comprised of Garvia Bailey, Nana aba Duncan, Rachel Giese, Jennifer Hollett, Nam Kiwanuka, Reshmi Nair, and Hannah Sung) is rolling out their inaugural campaign to raise $10,000 for two or more scholarships that will encourage and support young women to study a major related to media, with a career in journalism or storytelling in mind. Upon acceptance to a university or college program, the recipient will receive this award. They will also have the opportunity to meet with members of the Media Girlfriends network, and build on those connections in the future.
