7pm. Kenny Hotz’s Triumph of the Will @ Place-des-arts (Cinquième salle), 175 St-Catherine W. If you haven’t seen the episode of Kenny vs. Spenny where the two compete to find out who can 69 the longest, then you haven’t truly lived. Kenny Hotz will gives Montreal a sneak preview of his latest show, ‘Triumph of Will’, as part of the 2011 Just For Laughs line-up. $22. 

THURSDAY JULY 28 TO SUNDAY JULY 31 

2011 MEG @ several venues in Plateau/Mile-End. The 13th edition of Montreal Electronic Groove features over 70 electronic/dance/groove/hip-hop DJ’s and artists, playing at some of our favourite dance spots, including Salon Officiel, Belmont and Casa del Popolo. FRIDAY JULY 29 TO SUNDAY JULY 31 

Osheaga 2011 @ Parc Jean-Drapeau, Île Saint-Hélène. Finally, the countdown is over, and Montreal’s most spectacular music festival is set to begin! Osheaga 2011 headliners include Eminem, The Tragically Hip, Death Cab for Cutie, Elvis Costello and the Imposters, Kid Cudi, Death From Above 1979, Beirut and dozens more. Fo’ serious. Single day tickets range from $75.50 to $99.50, with multi-day and full festival passes costing anywhere from $130 to $370. Oh, but it’s worth it. 

FRIDAY JULY 29 

9pm. Trips and Falls @ L’Escogriffe, 4467-A St-Denis. Check out some young and new, local talent this weekend – indie pop/modern jazz band The Trips and Falls take the stage with tracks that will not doubt land on their new album, set to drop this fall. Give Me Something Beautiful open the evening. $6. 

SATURDAY JULY 30 

11am. Old Skool Craft Arts Fair @ L’Église St-Michel, 105 St-Viateur W. Over 50 local artisans set up for a mid-summer Old Skool Craft Fair, where shoppers can browse unique trinkets, jewellery, illustrations and photography, clothing, hula hoops (really?) and more! Until 6pm. Free. 

2pm. Summer Clothing Swap @ Parc Mont-Royal (corner Rachel & Parc). Spruce up your wardrobe just in time for August by bringing a few pieces of gently used clothing to the park for an afternoon of clothes swapping! Participants are asked to meet in front of the Mont-Royal statue (beside Tam-Tams). Free. 

SUNDAY JULY 31 

11pm. The Mad Decent Secret Party @ Velvet Speakeasy, 420 St-Gabriel. For anyone with an ounce of energy left after MTL’s biggest music weekend of the summer, hit up Velvet for an informal Osheaga/MEG after-party with Zubi and Black Tiger Sex Machine. $10 after 11pm.
