It’s sweltering, and the city is about to get a whole lot hotter with Ritmo y Color: The Streets of Mexico festival July 15–17 at Harbourfront. The three-day celebration will include music, dance, food and our own personal favourite – wrestling!

Papi Chulo will kick it off with electronic music, psychedelia and tropical rhythms. The Mariachi Ghost will keep things going by fusing traditional Mexican song and progressive rock, followed by DJ Elvis Cocho, the man who brought cumbia from the streets of Mexico City to Montreal. Latin Grammy-award nominees Centavrvs, who fuse traditional Mexican corrido with avant-garde electronic rhythms, will headline. Other performers throughout the weekend include Saul Torres, The Mexican Folk Ballet, Mamselle, Elvis Cocho, Astrid Hadad and Rosy Cervantes y la Sana Rabia.

AND: Lucha By The Water! will feature Mexico’s wrestling superstars Blue Demon Jr., Lince Dorado and Octagoncito facing off against some of Toronto’s home-grown talent. The Harbourfront Centre Theatre will be fitted with a professional boxing ring for an authentic live wrestling match. (Buy tix for Lucha by the Water! here).
