For those who live in Mile End, you may have noticed the abundance of pumpkins for sale along Parc – principally at the small fruiterie/grocery stores between Bernard and St-Viateur – overflowing out of crates and cardboard boxes, large and small. There are even shelves of cute mini pumpkins with painted faces, including the kind that look like prickly squash (well, actually, I think those ones ARE prickly squash).

When was the last time you carved a pumpkin? Next time you walk buy, pick one up! On Sunday, October 28, POP Montreal will host a fantastic afternoon pumpkin carving party at their Espace POP location (5587 Parc). All you need is the pumpkin – they will provide carving tools and patterns (though you can always bring your own), as well as roasted pumpkin seeds and hot apple cider. Other fun Halloween craft activities will also be on the agenda!

Families are welcome, but obviously so are couples, best friends, roommates and, hello, solo carvers! There is no room in your kitchen for pumpkin innards, anyway.

Entry is by donation. The event will run from noon until 5pm.
