When it comes to testing feats of arm strength, nothing beats a good ol’ fashioned wrestle – especially when it involves babes, costumes, and a good cause.

This Friday, 751 (751 Queen St. W.) will be hosting a women’s arm wrestling championship from 8-11 pm with all proceeds going to the Red Door Women’s Shelter, which provides safe and supportive emergency housing for individuals and families in need of refuge from domestic violence or for those who find themselves without accommodation. Whether you’re itching to get your elbows a little dirty or stand by and watch from the sidelines, it’s a battle you won’t want to miss.

To enter the ring, make sure you have a sweet name (Jackie O’Nasty, LumberJACKED, The Runt, Kiki Yorbutt and Queen Victorious are just some of the ones already chosen), your own theme song (“Arm Wrestling Woman” by actor Kevin Bacon’s band the Bacon Brothers seems fitting), and a posse of lady friends to back you up. Prizes will be awarded for best name, best costume, first place and runner up and the all-dude referees and DJs will be on hand to keep things under control.

$2 to wrestle, $3 to watch

All proceeds go to the Red Door Women’s Shelter (www.reddoorshelter.ca)

Live performance from Toronto’s DENTATA (www.myspace.com/dentata666)

Registration starts at 8:00 pm on Friday, but you can pre-register by emailing Scotty B. Goode at classyladiesarmwrestling@gmail.com
