7pm. Piu Piu Beat Tape (vol.2) Launch Party @ Espace Griffintown, 1314 Olier. Launch of second mixtape for Piu Piu, a documentary about Montreal’s beat scene, which premieres in Fall 2013. Hosted by Ghostclass and music by Lexis and Tommy Kruise, Da-P and a special mystery guest! Partake of Espace Griffintown’s summer menu, which will feature perogies, gazpacho, beef satay, pulled pork corn muffins and BBQ duck spring rolls. $5 before 11pm, $10 after (limited food, arrive early).
10pm. The Layover @ Tokyo Bar, 3709 Boulevard St-Laurent. The patio lanterns will be lighting up the best terrace on St Laurent, while the AC blasts inside to keep dancers easy breezy. DJ Dan Roberts brings the ruckus, and lots of drink specials to be had! Every Wednesday at Tokyo.

6pm. Mixed Misuse: Discussion @ Fonderie Darling, 745 rue Ottawa. As part of its “Place Publique” series, the Darling Foundry presents a conversation around the exhibition “Mixed Misuse” by Jon Knowles. The panellists: Phyllis Lambert, founder-director of the Canadian Centre for Architecture; Vincent Bonin, participant in the exhibition Mixed Misuse; Hervé Bouchereau, psychoanalyst; and Caroline Andrieux, founder and artistic director of the Darling Foundry. Discussion (presented in French) from 6pm, the exhibition stays open until 10pm. Free admission.
7:30pm. Fundraising concert for Amnesty International @ Sala Rossa, 4848 St-Laurent. Four local acts play Sala in support of Amnesty International. Featuring electro-pop acts Jerome Miniere and Le Husky; indie-folk acts Our Book & the Authors and The Loodies; and indie rock act Cardinal. $10 advance. $12 door, all ticket proceeds go to Amnesty International.

7am. Parc Ave Street Fair/Party D’Été @ Parc Avenue, between Mont-Royal and Van Horne. Parc Avenue turns into a massive street fair this weekend, with sidewalk sales, food tastings, musical events and workshops from 46 participating Parc Ave businesses. Starting at Mont Royal and moving north, highlights include didgeridoo performances at Aussie meat pie purveyor Tourtière Australienne (4520 Parc); 30 minute African percussion workshops at Samajam (4801 Parc, 2pm-5pm on Saturday); samples at cupcake haven Cocoa Locale (4807 Parc)…and we haven’t even reached St-Joseph!
