MARCH 15 TO SUNDAY MARCH 25

30th International Festival of Films on Art @ City-wide venues. Film festival season kicks off with the 30th edition of Montreal’s FIFA, ten days of film screenings that will showcase a great array of international art films! View the full program here. Tickets for individual screenings are $12 each and can be purchased online.

THURSDAY MARCH 22

7:30pm. A Dream Play @ McGill’s Moyse Hall, Arts Building, 853 Sherbrooke West. McGill’s Drama and Theatre program presents A Dream Play – an early twentieth century piece by Swedish playwright Alan Strindberg – from March 22 to 24 and March 29 to 31. General admission is $10; $5 for students. Support local theatre, gang!

FRIDAY MARCH 23

8pm. The Weeknd @ Metropolis, 59 St-Catherine East. I have literally been waiting one whole calendar year for this day. Toronto R&B artist The Weeknd brings his sultry self to Metropolis for his first official performance in Montreal, following a trilogy of absolutely spectacular albums released throughout 2011. Prepare for what can only be described as a ‘grind-a-thon.’ Check out High for This and Wicked Games for a taste, because you need to know about him if you (somehow) do not already. $45 (possibly sold-out at the box office, though Craigslist and third-party ticket sites are good bets).

10pm. Hospitality Showcase feat. Netsky @ Foufounes électriques, 87 St-Catherine E. Here is a great opportunity to hit up Foufs (which I’m guessing you haven’t had a reason to do in a while) for a night of dancing to the drum & bass beats of Belgium’s own Netsky, who will be accompanied by Welsh producer High Contrast, Dynamite MC and more! $25 at the door, $20 in advance.

SATURDAY MARCH 24

9pm. Corinna Rose + Kieran Blake @ Quai des brumes, 4481 St-Denis. Our girl Corinna Rose has been taking Montreal – and Canada – by storm in the last six months (check out our interview with her last year!) and she joins Kieran Blake for a local performance this weekend at Quai des brumes, which as a side note, serves great pitchers of sangria! $10.

SUNDAY MARCH 25

8:30pm. Labirinto + Sweet Mother Logic + Thisquietarmy @ Casa del Popolo, 4873 St-Laurent. On the Canadian leg of their tour, Brazil’s Labirinto play Casa along with local up-and-comers Sweet Mother Logic and Thisquietarmy. Tickets are $9 in advance, $10 at the door.
