Les FrancoFolies de Montréal @ Various venues downtown. Catch the tail end of Montreal’s multi-week FrancoFolies Festival, dedicated to the very best in French music. Notable upcoming acts include Yann Perreau (June 15 @ Club Soda), Jean-Pierre Ferland (June 15 @ Place-des-Arts) and Grand Corps Malade (June 16 @ Place-des-Arts).

WEDNESDAY JUNE 15

7:30pm. Doing Good @ OFF A – Montreal Improv, 3713 St-Laurent – #202. Former UN war crimes lawyer turned comedienne (!!) Jess Salomon performs eight different shows (including this Wednesday spot), as part of the Montreal Fringe Festival. Prepare to giggle uncontrollably for 45 minutes. $10.

THURSDAY JUNE 16 TO JUNE 19

St-Laurent Street Fest, Take Two @ St-Laurent Boulevard. For the second weekend in a row, the City shuts down traffic on St-Laurent, this time all the way up to Mont-Royal St. Extended patios, street art, shoe and bag bargains and more await all who wander through the so-called Main Madness. Frig, I love summer in Montreal.

THURSDAY JUNE 16

4pm. Fringe Pop Thursday @ Parc des Amériques (corner Rachel and St-Laurent). A great line-up of local talent takes the stage for Fringe Pop Thursday: Honeyman and the Brothers Farr kick things off mid-afternoon with their wonderful sounds, followed by Departures, Bialystoker, UN, Pop Winds and headliner Krista Muir at 9pm.

FRIDAY JUNE 17

9pm. Blind Date/Mix Tape, Part Three @ Café Sarajevo, 6458 St-Laurent. Bring one or two tracks in the genre of “newer wave,” (indie rock with a dance beat and distorted vocals) – or whatever you want, really – in basically any format (CD, USB, vinyl), to contribute to the Blind Date DJ mix and subsequent dance party.

FRIDAY JUNE 17 TO SUNDAY JUNE 19

Eureka! Festival @ Old Port’s Science Centre and the Quays of the Old Port. For all ages, the Eureka! Festival includes interactive exhibitions, lectures and cool science demonstrations – an excuse to go hang out in Old Port in the summertime is all you need.

SUNDAY JUNE 19

10pm. First Anniversary of Jour du Sabbat @ Salon Officiel, 351 Roy. Salon Officiel’s infamous ‘metal night’ celebrates its one year anniversary with a party of mega proportions. You may need to call in sick on Monday. And check out their new blog!
