There are 1,200+ Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Transgender and Two-Spirit people in this country. Sonya Cywink and Patricia Carpenter are two of them.

At Shades of Our Sisters, their families will share who their loved ones are and what the loss of their life means through a combination of film, soundscapes and personal artifacts. Their poems, childhood dolls and clothing they wore will allow audiences to come to know Sonya and Patricia and the impact they had on their families, friends and communities.

This intimate experience offers audiences a closeness to these two remarkable young women, humanizing their lives and showing them as more than just a statistic. From February 17th to 19th, Shades of Our Sisters will be open to the public in Toronto at the Tecumseh Auditorium, in the Ryerson University Student Centre (55 Gould St). Admittance is FREE.
