#TogetherInHarmony: Music Monday at Home Will Unite Musicians and Music Lovers Across Canada in a 12-Hour Live Broadcast!

On Monday, May 4, hundreds of thousands of children, youth, teachers, parents and community members will join #TogetherInHarmony for Music Monday. We can’t think of a more beautiful way for the entire family (from the very young to the very old) to unite and celebrate the diverse talents of school-aged musicians from coast to coast to coast.

Starting at 9am EST, Canadians can tune in to either the Coalition for Music Education’s website, YouTube or Facebook to experience live performances as well as a nation-wide sing-along. There will also be interactive activities for kids of all ages, messages from prominent Canadians, and a special curated Spotlight Celebration that will highlight favourite content from across the country.

Music Monday is one of the world’s largest single events dedicated to raising awareness for music education. Normally, the event is a series of live concert performances at venues across the country, but this year—due to COVID-19—it’s moving online, and everyone’s invited (register now!)

Register on the Music Monday website to show your support and get access to recordings, activities, and more.

“Now more than ever, Canadians understand the vital role that music plays within our culture,” says Eric Favaro, Chair of the Coalition for Music Education. “Music Monday brings us together to demonstrate our immense love for music and the important role it plays in the shaping of young lives.” We applaud all their efforts, especially their strong commitment to advocacy to ensure equitable access to quality music education across Canada.

From helping kids learn to express themselves to the pure joy it brings, we are big believers in music education. With so much uncertainty in the world right now, this epic 12-hour event is something we can all look forward to.
